Boot The Freeloaders

FreeloadersThe Republicans say the poor are not carrying their share of the load. They say they don’t pay taxes. Actually, they pay a greater percentage of their income than does Myth Romney or most of his fellow plutocrats.

Most of the poor have jobs. Many have more than one job but are still poor. They pay 15.2% in payroll taxes. They pay sales taxes. They pay gas taxes. They pay excise taxes. They pay property taxes. The list is long.

But if the poor aren’t the freeloaders, who are they? Let’s ignore the bulk of the Fortune 500 corporations that pay little or no federal taxes. And, let’s emulate Washington and pretend the elite actually pay their fair share.

Is The Suspense Killing You?

Okay, here is something of a ‘Top Ten” of culprits, in alphabetical order: Alabama, Alaska, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia. This is not fully inclusive nor is my list exclusive but it’s unlikely to be featured by David Letterman.

What do these losers have in common? They are all solid red states, you know, the kind that hate the federal government, love independence (while unable to exist without depending on that hated federal government). They love to be the least educated of states. They revel in having attained the lowest health standards. High levels of poverty is another claim to fame.

While wallowing in federal largess, they claim to be the champions of self-reliance. Just how self-sufficient are these moochers? Listed is the amount each state receives from the federal government for every dollar they contribute.

Alabama – $3.28; Alaska – $1.92; Indiana – $2.01; Kentucky – $ 2.39; Louisiana – $3.35; Mississippi – $3.07; Montana – $1.55; South Carolina – $1.92; Tennessee – $1.64; West Virginia – $2.22

So, how much does that mean to a state’s overall budget? I found a few numbers to share with you. Federal monies represent 33% of Indiana’s total, For Kentucky, it’s 35%. For my home state of Tennessee, it’s 41%. Alabama would miss 44% of its budget without the federal government. If you are a citizen of any of these states, ask your state representative to offer a bill to forbid that state from being a freeloader, dependent upon that hated federal government, by refusing to accept more than it pays in. Good luck.

A recent poll showed 23.9% of the people in this country find secession appealing. True, people across the political spectrum have reason to wish to be rid of our present pea-brained political prostitutes. However, as you may have guessed, the willingness to destroy the nation is most pronounced in those super patriotic red states, the ones most dependent on the federal teat.

Are these secessionists hypocritical? Delusional? Ignorant? Stupid? Republicans? Yes. Most commonly, they are an amalgam of all, or almost all, of them. I won’t object if you wish to amend that list to include conservatives, fundamentalists, racists and libertarians.

Someone must make up the difference. Someone must subsidize these parasites. Would you care to venture a guess as to who pays their way? One hint. Do you reside in a blue state? Bingo.

A Partial Solution.

Literacy tests. Yep. A literacy test for every office holder in the leach states. Or, they could be asked to define the terms which they are so fond of throwing around: socialist, capitalist, communist, fascist, Nazi, free market. I guarantee you will be unable to find enough to occupy all of one’s fingers. A simpler test might be to count to 19, without removing their shoes. The requirement of any of these tests would unseat every Republican and Tea Party politician in the country, at all levels: federal, state and local. It undoubtedly would snare a sizeable number of Democrats, as well.

Hello! This is my first comment here so I just wanted to give a quick shout out and tell
you I really enjoy reading your blog posts. Can you suggest any other blogs/websites/forums that deal with the same topics?
Thanks for your time!

I’ve been browsing online more than 4 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours.
It is pretty worth enough for me. Personally, if all webmasters and
bloggers made good content as you did, the net will be a lot more
useful than ever before.
