Bounty Hunter

Sometimes, while I’m slaving away at the keyboard (computer, not piano), I leave the television on a news program, primarily to keep reassuring myself that the rest of the world is still out there. On occasion something catches my ear. That was the case yesterday. I don’t recall his name but a retired army general was expressing his concern for the damage being done to the postal service by the president with an IQ that could be confused with his shoe size.

The general pointed out that most of the prescriptions that the VA send out to our veterans go via the USPS. During that discussion, someone mentioned that many seniors are similarly served. Even more of our fellow citizens don’t have a bank account. That means direct deposit is not an option. Again, another portion of our population dependent on their local post office for their unemployment checks, Social Security, perhaps even their paychecks. Let us not forget how dependent many small businesses are on the post office.

For some reason, my geriatric brain recalled would-be Czar Putin’s bounty for Taliban fighters on scalps of American soldiers. And then there is the wantabe King Donnie the First. Or is it the second president of the confederacy? I can’t keep up. What day of the week is it? King uh president uh, oh whatever, Donnie wants to play host to Putin one more time before he gets dragged kicking and screaming out of our White House.

I don’t know if the Putz will give the orange pouter credit for killing the 160,000 plus, since most of those were not soldiers. The potential number of troops killed by hobbling the post office is likely to be much smaller than the whiner-in-chief would prefer. Putin doesn’t need to manipulate our election. Donnie is doing it all by himself this time.

The maiming of the post office, the bounty and the proposed invite to Putin, put them all together they spell Donnie’s guest arriving with a suitcase stuffed with Rubles. The same troika spells traitor.

What other than greed and his admiration for authoritarians could inspire Donnie to be Putin’s puppet? Michael Cohen’s book confirms both possible positive and possible negative motives. The latter could be the possibility of proof concerning some ‘golden showers.’ The former is his desire to obtain permission for his wet dream of a Trump hotel in Moscow.

Trump is so intent upon kissing Putin’s rump that it has to be result of his belief that Putin can wield great power. or, perhaps he just enjoys sporting brown on his nose almost as much as he favors orange.

But, you say, Putin does hold a powerful hand. Actually, he doesn’t. Russia has been accurately described as a trailer park with nuclear weapons. Their economy is about the same size as that of Spain’s. However, their national wealth must be shared by 3.1 times as many people. Also, Putin and his friends are systematically looting the country for far more than their fair share. That justifies the reference to being a trailer park.

So, there’s still the consideration of those nuclear weapons, right? Not really. Just because our president has such a dearth of understanding and appreciation of nuclear weapons and their use as to propose using them to bomb hurricanes, doesn’t mean that Putin is just as stupid. Putin has unrealistic aspirations fantasies of returning Russia to its former status by attempting the recreation of the Soviet Union.

But Putin, unlike Trump, realizes that they are not functional weapons; that they cannot actually be employed; that they are actually just chess pieces in an elaborate, sophisticated game. China’s leaders realize that, as do the leaders of the UK, France, Israel, and probably India, Pakistan and possibly even North Korea. The US, with or without the EU, the UK and Japan could put an economic squeeze on Russia that would inflict a great deal of harm. As things stand at present, we should squeeze just enough to remind Putin that Russia has feet of clay.

Russia will never return to their former status and Putin needs to learn that it is in his interest to play nice. That is too complex for little Donnie to grasp and it is totally alien to his weltanschauung.

If you found this educational, edifying, interesting or otherwise worth your time, this geezer would appreciate a little supplement to those Social Security checks, They forgot to factor in the cost of publishing a blog.
