It’s not often that “you people” get to eavesdrop on one of the elite expressing the contempt the elite has for Mr. John Q. Public.
Mitt Romney and his audience of millionaire donors consider 47% of your fellow Americans to be worthless bums. It is a pitiful state of affairs when these plutocrats have so little understanding of those over whom they rule. Truly a pitiable group that does not know what they do not know.
Mitt’s concept of poor people is less than an artful caricature. He has proven to be a joke. He has no understanding of what you and I do, think and feel. As a veteran, I am incensed that a draft dodger born on 3rd base, thinking he hit a triple, thinks so little of me and my fellow Americans. I am furious that such an incompetent considers himself qualified to govern this nation.
Caught
Poor Mitt. It seems he can’t open his mouth without looking like a disconnected, delusional plutocrat. Before getting to what he said, let’s set the scene. This meeting with wealthy donors was held in the Florida home of Marc Leder. I don’t know which Marc is more famous for; large, noisy nude parties at rented sites or putting 28 companies into bankruptcy, just in the past 4 years.
Did you hear it? Romney’s “job is to not worry about those people.” We demand that the government provide us with food, housing and other things required for life.
Romney knows that we were too lazy to choose wealthy parents. Shiftless bums.
I was surprised to learn that 47% (46.4% to be exact) of us think of ourselves as victims. Mitt would be surprised to learn that 10% of the population are retired. About 5 of those percentage points are college students. All but 18.1% of that 46.4% pay payroll taxes. That payroll tax of 15.3% is higher than Mitt’s 13.8% he paid in 2010.
Just a note: The largest identifiable group in that 46.4% are elderly. They should go out and get (another) one of all those jobs that don’t exist.
It appears that for several years he was a member of that 46.4%. Those are the years he considered himself a victim and was too shiftless to succeed. There are quite a few millionaires and billionaires who work hard and are successful in finagling their way into that group. The IRS says that over 30,000 people with incomes over $200,000 paid no income tax
Saying that Mitt paid 13.8% doesn’t mean that he paid that much in income taxes. In fact, Mitt paid .08% in income taxes in 2010. That’s getting awfully close to being a victim, Mitt.
Romney claims that those not paying income tax will not vote for him under any circumstances. Really? It appears that, with the exception of New Mexico, the 10 states with the highest percentage of their voters being a part of that 46.4% are red states. It is difficult to explain such ignorance, but Mitt has to depend on it.
Sadly, Mitt isn’t the only one that thinks people are poor because they are lazy. The biggest percentage of those filing for bankruptcy did so because of medical bills. And, most of those had health insurance. Most people receiving food stamps have jobs.
He and others think that the poor want to be poor. They must really crave the opportunity to live in rat-infested apartments, having their electricity and water turned off, especially during the winter. They must enjoy lining up for hours for a few pounds of free cheese to supplement their diets. Their children must be proud to sign for free meals at school in front of their friends.
Why is it that those least informed on poverty spout off the loudest about how the poor enjoy having their needs met by others while they snooze in their hammocks on Palm Beach?
Well, at least he apologized . . . uh, what? . . . he didn’t? No. He just said that his comments were “not elegantly stated.”
By the way, most of Bain’s projects involved tax breaks, loans and/or other benefits from local, state and federal governments. All were in the millions. Is he that much of a hypocrite or just too stupid to realize that he has been one of the biggest feeders at the government troughs?
He still intends to cut the remaining lifelines that allow the poor to hang on. The majority of those receiving MedicAid, food stamps, free meals and housing subsidies are children. Mitt hasn’t forgotten to cut the programs aimed at them. It’s strange that so many of the “Pro-Life” crowd abandon that position for the postnatal.
I pity the inhabitants of whatever planet he is assigned to be god on.

Nice post. I was checking constantly this blog and I am impressed!
Very useful information specifically the last part 🙂 I care for such
information a lot. I was looking for this particular info for
a very long time. Thank you and best of luck.
I do agree with all the ideas you’ve offered to your post.
They are really convincing and can certainly work. Nonetheless, the posts are very short for newbies.
May just you please extend them a bit from next time?
Thanks for the post.
First, revisiting the post, which is from September 2012, I found the link to the youtube video was not working. That has been remedied.
As for your observation, I am somewhat surprised. I have had the occasional (used to be frequent) complaints that my posts are too lengthy. I make an effort, not always successfully, to keep my articles reasonably short. Yours is my first complaint that a post was too short. I will have to reconsider.
Aw, this was a really good post. Finding the time and
actual effort to produce a really good article… but what
can I say… I put things off a whole lot and never manage to
get nearly anything done.
