Senator David Perdue (R) – Georgia, is not known as the brightest, nicest or most honest of an impressively inept clique of politicians. That is likely what appealed to Trump, who used him to warm up the audience at a recent super-spreader for the president to endanger his loyal minions. How did he do? Well, although I would support him were he to depart public office, I wouldn’t recommend stand-up comedy as an alternative. Of course he has no need for further employment. Just one of his forays into insider trading enlarged his bank balance by perhaps $6 million.
Even among southern politicians, Georgia’s are notably deficient. I speak from firsthand knowledge. I confess that during my 12 years of residence in that benighted state, I served in public elective office.
The senator is in a tight race. During the warm-up he seemed to think it humorous to make fun of Kamala Harris’ name. No, not Harris. Though not related, I share the family name with her. I can understand the average member of the public unintentionally messing up a foreign name. Perdue, however, is not just a member of the public. He has served more than 3 years in the Senate with fellow Senator Kamala Harris.
After the little dust-up, his staff lied in response. They claimed that it was simply a matter of stumbling over an uncommon foreign name. He repeatedly mispronounced her name, in his mocking effort to evoke some laughs.
I wish there were some conservatives that frequented this site. Facts and truth tend to keep them away. I wish they would hear what I am getting ready to say, because it affects them too. When a minority is held up to scorn or ridicule, it exacerbates a significant problem we have in this country. Does this simpleton not know the name of this country? Does United ring a bell for him? Name-calling and other such inanities tend to divide, not unite.
Division brings strife. Strife does not make for a more enjoyable life; at least not for most people. It does tend to help promote the fortunes of society’s parasites. those unconcerned with the wellbeing of other people.
It’s unlikely that Perdue’s mocking will cause enough people to vote for Trump to change the outcome. So, to what purpose? I would guess that it is thought to be some sort of palliative for those filled with hate, fear and an underlying, unrealized feeling of inadequacy.
Anyone not sharing Perdue’s deficiencies should help him and us by removing him from public office. He can accomplish nothing positive and cannot help but bring discord among our citizenry and dishonor in the sight of the rest of the world.
An Update
Over the weekend, following Purdue’s display of racism, Jon Ossoff, his opponent raised a bit over $1.8 million from 4,200 donors. Since Purdue claims not to be racist, why did his campaign alter a picture of his Jewish opponent by enlarging his nose. It was explained as a mistake. Really????
Senator Harris’ husband suggested it might be easier to avoid having to pronounce such a difficult name by referring to her as MVP – Madame Vice President.
I understand that this bozo is not related to the company that sells chickens. I don’t think they are associated with turkeys.
If you found this educational, edifying, interesting or otherwise worth your time, this geezer would appreciate a little supplement to those Social Security checks, They forgot to factor in the cost of publishing a blog.
