No, I am not referring to these two as sluts because of their gender. They share that honorary distinction with all of the Republican politicians and many of the Democratic ones. and not just those holding national offices. However, these two are especially interesting cases.
On the right is little miss former home economics major Marsha Blackburn. I hesitate to call her my senator as she supports essentially everything I find abhorrent. But, she is “my representative” in the Senate. Why is she a senator? Well, when as a congresswoman she decided to avoid the public for six years at a time rather than two, the National Rifle Asses helped her out to the tune of $1,250,000 US Dollars.
That was just the signing bonus. There was even a bit of nonmonetary assistance as well. Bought and paid for. She has proven reliable in performing whatever acts they command. Doesn’t acting trashy for others qualify as slutty? The NRA is not her only John er, owner.
This article comes shortly after the killing of elementary school students and teachers in Texas. My wife is a retired elementary school teacher. So, you may be understanding if I play a bit rough in this missive. I really don’t give a crap about the sensibilities of the accessories to all of these shooting sprees. If you are at all familiar with the cesspool that is Tennessee politics you will see the picture above as confirmation that Miss Marsha has much more on the outside of her skull than inside. I can’t see a picture of her without being reminded of someone’s description of a woman walking down the street with a mattress on her back yelling, “curb service.”
Following a bipartisan report on Russian interference in our elections by the Senate Intelligence Committee, Senator Mark Warner offered three bills for “unanimous consent.” Little Miss Marsha blocked all three. It seems that the NRA has some special connections in Russia.
I haven’t been able to confirm the following, so take it for what it’s worth. It may just be a rumor but, given the people involved, it would not be out of character. It seems that a former campaign official of Marsha’s is a lawyer who has worked for the NRA. The possible rumor part is that the other slut pictured above was once his girlfriend. If you don’t remember her 15 minutes of fame, her name is Maria Butina.
Miss Butina, a Russian operative (aka spy, for the laymen) came to the US ostensibly to earn a masters degree at American University. No, for real. She did but she became very involved with the NRA and reported to her handler that she had established important relationships connected to the new administration.
She was charged with being an unregistered foreign agent and convicted. She was shortly thereafter pardoned and deported. Just a guess but I suspect that a close friend of the Moscow Midget provided the pardon.
Since I am loosening the reins for this article, let me muse a bit about how to react to the shooting in Uvalde, Texas . . . and all of the other, similar massacres.
Earlier, I referred to some politicians as accessories and accomplices. That charge may not be accepted by a court but is a fact. I think they should be treated as such. Perhaps we should convict every politician accepting bribes from the NRA and sentence them to life without parole. Let it be one politician for each person murdered in a school shooting.
People really need to understand what the NRA is. Though claiming to represent gun owners and their “rights,” they ignore their members. They actually represent and are primarily funded by the gun manufacturers. They have wet dreams about each of these massacres because gun sales shoot up, or should I say spike, with every incident.
Not just the overwhelming number of gun owners but also members of the NRA support registration and some other rational measures. The majority of gun owners do not belong to the NRA. One has to wonder why any gun owners join the NRA. The politicians aren’t concerned about the voters. They are concerned about the bribes that keep them in power.
They claim that more guns will keep us safer. How inane a statement is that? We have far more guns than any other country, forty percent of the planet’s total. We have more guns than people, though gun ownership is probably around twenty percent of the population. Mass shootings are described as those resulting in four or more deaths. Given that definition, this country has 57 times as many mass shootings as all of the other industrialized nations combined. Does the number of guns make you feel safer now?
Every survey shows that people living in homes with guns are far more likely to be killed than in homes without guns. Rarely do guns in the home provide safety but they to result in suicides, accidental shootings and homicides. Despite the mass shootings, most victims of gun violence are either friends or relatives of the shooter. Does that make you want more guns to keep you safe?
One more area needs to be discussed: people with mental illness. They, as a category, seem always to be mentioned as one that is of particular concern. I am far more concerned about those people not so classified. Surprised? Don’t allow the politicians to misdirect the blame. Check it out.
A study by the FBI found that seven percent of the general population commit crimes of violence. Among those diagnosed with a mental illness the number was two percent. So, are you three and a half times safer around people with a mental illness? Actually not. At least half of those people with a mental illness direct their violence against themselves. It may be self-mutilation or it may be suicide. The comparable numbers in the United Kingdom were six percent and less than three percent. Generally speaking, you are far safer among those with a mental illness.
Perhaps there could be placards posted on all school doors providing shooters directions to the nearest courthouses and statehouses.
I don’t know if will help but here’s a thought. Tell everyone that, if they vote for a candidate who is against gun control, they are voting to kill school kids.
If you found this educational, edifying, interesting or otherwise worth your time, this geezer would appreciate a little supplement to those Social Security checks, They forgot to factor in the cost of publishing a blog. I would like to continue being able to afford my daily cup of coffee and pound of caviar.
