Afghanistan Conservatives’ Goals = American Republicans’ Goals
There are two areas where I find the lines blurred. One is in the national/international arena. The other is closer to home. You likely have heard about the first ones. I hope you have been spared the later.
The Taliban were only minimally successful in trying to keep the voters of Afghanistan from the polls. Our native Taliban governors have been hard at work, the same work. However, it will be November before we know just how successful they will be.
Rick Scott, Governor of Florida, and Scott Walker, Governor of Wisconsin, are pictured. They are far from the only ones. The governors of Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Louisiana and more have joined the anti-American forces. They baldly claim that they are eliminating voter fraud. Really?
A comprehensive, well-documented study found an average of about 45 incidents a year so far this century – less than one per state per year. However, criminal ventures by election officials have had significant results in several cases. I find it strange that I had no luck finding Democratic officials caught.
It could be that they are much smarter than the Republicans. Intelligence has not been a hallmark of the GOP for several generations but there seems to be little reason for the Dems to go to all that trouble. They just need to concentrate on prevailing upon the courts to allow the majority of humans to vote.
The other concern is a result of my living in the nation’s social, economic, religious and political armpit. This is where the people hate the government but take far more from the treasury than they contribute. They hate the schools . . . and it shows. They hate science but few protest the theory of gravity. They claim to believe in creationism but few even know that Genesis offers two conflicting versions.
They feel superior but have higher rates of unwed mothers. They have higher rates of poverty. They have lower life expectancy. Superior, really? Superior to whom?
The political system doesn’t really stretch the intellect of the denizens of this fetid swamp. My eyes cannot avoid the carpet bombing by political signs. Hiding indoors would provide little respite. The postal carriers are heavily laden with their garbage. To what purpose?
Every scrap of political litter is the same. Every aspirant is identical. Each is the staunchest Republican since St. Ronnie. Each is the purest conservative in the state, if not the nation. Each is the truest Christian since the Apostles. Each will eliminate taxes and the government. Each will ensure no more Blacks in the Oval Office.
It makes one wonder. What differences? What does it matter which incompetent clown wins?
