His Majesty Cadet Bone Spur recently asked, “Whose boat is this boat?” I was prompted to ask, “Whose Caravan is this Caravan?”Trump is in his comfort zone – lying. He claims the Democrats organized the caravan of migrants headed toward our southern border. He claims it is funded by George Soros. He claims that Arab terrorists are sprinkled throughout the caravan. It was unexpected when he admitted that he had no proof.
Meanwhile, Nonentity Pence was on the original script, claiming security personnel had told him the caravan had been infiltrated and there were 7, or maybe 10 Arab terrorists had been apprehended at the border. Apparently, the agents informing Pence were last seen going into the Saudi embassy in Turkey.
In the old days their pronouncements would have elicited the comment that ‘something was rotten in Denmark.’ Nowadays, I’ll just call them liars.
I’m going to ask you to follow me and do something Republicans seem constitutionally incapable of doing – look at a few facts.
The caravan is composed of more than 7,200 people. About a third are children. The trip, by foot, is more than 2,000 miles. I find it difficult to believe that the Democrats are sufficiently persuasive to induce 72 people to hazard such an adventure.
Of all the media coverage of the caravan, there has yet to be a single sighting any Arab terrorists. I did discover a connection to the Middle East, however. The word caravan came from the Persian word کاروان. There is still a bit of a problem with that. Persians, Iranians, are not Arabs. Also, the orange president says they are terrorists of Isis. Isis is composed of Sunni Muslims, the bitter enemies of the Shia Muslims, primarily from Iran.
The fake president is asking us to believe that this hoard is being paid enough to ignore his warnings about employing our military to fend them off. His knowledge of government doesn’t include an awareness that it is unconstitutional to use the military that way. However, he might get a governor to activate his national guard.
Perhaps Numbnuts should have someone read to him an article or two about how dire the situation is in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. The hazards of the trip, the privations for the adults and their children, the uncertainty of what awaits them, all have been weighed against what faces them if they remain in their homes. One last consideration: these groups plan their treks for warm weather. Beginning a months-long journey in October bespeaks a desperation that Trump simply cannot fathom.
Okay, if George Soros isn’t financing the caravan and the Democrats couldn’t organize such a project and the weather should hamper it, who is responsible? A wild guess isn’t out of place on this subject. Who, aside from an unlikely benefit to those in the caravan, does benefit? If we factor in one more fact, we might have a prospect.
Here comes the mid-term elections. Immigration is Trump’s favorite issue. Put them together and the question becomes, could it be that the caravan belongs to the Liar-in-Chief?
Naturally, The Rump has the solution. He says he will cut foreign aid to Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. My guess is that would exacerbate the problems down there, creating more migrants.
Addendum: If anyone is unaware, Stephen Colbert is selling the pictured book, with all proceeds going to aid hurricane victims.
My bad. I forgot that ‘whose’ is the only possessive relative pronoun in English. The title of this article should have been, “Whose Caravan Is This Caravan” but it has been propagated and it is now too late to scour the Internet and change every use of the error. I realize that my readers have come to expect perfection and I promise to do better.
